Omni-Blu, DPR Enter into Historic Partnership - By Daisy BARRO

A new partnership has been born between Omni-Blu Aviation Limited and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in a joint effort to provide Search, Rescue and Surveillance (SeRAS) services to the Nigerian oil and gas sector.

The flag off of SeRAS services took place at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos, during which the Managing Director (MD) of Omni-Blu Aviation, Capt. James Daniel expressed his pride in the fact that Omni-Blu is presently the only company approved by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to operate ambulance services within the sector, with SeRAS now being an extension of that service.

According to Mr. Daniel, while Omni-Blu will launch SeRAS services with only two aircraft, the company plans to procure three more AW-139s as the service expands.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of DPR, Mr. Sarki Auwalu applauded the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari in making this historic partnership possible, and expressed satisfaction in the equipment Omni-Blu brings into the joint venture – equipment which he described as “a huge asset” to the petroleum industry.

In the CEO’s opinion, “People who work to get energy into Nigerian households need to be safe, reason why we are trying to de-risk our nation. The infrastructure we will put in place with the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva will attract investors who are ready to come and work in a safe and secure environment.”

Mr. Auwalu ended by calling on other key players in the oil and gas sector to identify with the SeRAS initiative, as it remains primordial to their success.
