Air Peace Procures Africa's First E195-E2. By Daisy BARRO

It was with great pleasure that Air Peace recently took delivery of its first E195-E2 aircraft, making it the first African airline to have a jet from Embraer’s latest segment – the E2 – in its fleet.

According to sources, the aircraft which is configured in a dual segment arrangement with 124 seats arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja after flying from Embraer’s facility in São José dos Campos.

Commenting on the recent development, the Chairman and CEO of Air Peace Mr. Allen Onyema said, “The E195-E2 is the perfect aircraft to expand our domestic and regional operations. We are aware of the aircraft’s impressive economic performance as well as its unique configuration - major reasons why we placed an order for this aircraft. It is also a historic feat as Air Peace will be the first to operate this aircraft model in the whole of Africa”.

Mr. Onyema went on to say that the procurement of the E192-E2 will enable Air Peace to deliver on the airline’s ‘No-city-left-behind’ initiative by connecting not just Nigeria but the entire African continent.

Cesar Pereira, Embraer Commercial Aviation’s Vice President of Europe, Middle East and Africa expressed his joy on finally closing the deal with Air Peace. In his own words, “Handing over beautiful new jets to our customers is a favourite activity for everyone at Embraer. Doing so under the current circumstances is a boost for us all as we adapt to the changing environment. This is a fabulous start to the year for everybody at Air Peace and Embraer.”

It is expected that Air Peace’ latest jet will enhance both domestic and regional connectivity for the airline by delivering a superior travel experience for customers while being profitable for the airline at the same time – an achievement which will feed and sustain long haul operations at the Lagos Hub such as the UAE route launched in 2019 and South Africa launched in December of 2020.
