NAMA Signs Contract for New Corporate Headquarters and ATM Centre in Abuja - By Daisy BARRO

The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has formally signed contractual documents for the construction of its new corporate headquarters and Air Traffic Management (ATM) Centre in Abuja, marking a significant milestone in the agency's institutional growth and Nigeria's aviation development. The new facility will serve a dual purpose, housing NAMA's Corporate Headquarters and a centralized Air Traffic Management (ATM) Centre, consolidating airspace control functions previously decentralized.

According to NAMA's Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive, Engr. Ahmed Umar Farouk, the development represents a major operational shift, enhancing operational efficiency, improving safety oversight, and strengthening Nigeria's compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices.

"The consolidation of air traffic control operations into one integrated national centre will significantly enhance operational efficiency, improve safety oversight, and strengthen Nigeria's compliance with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices," Farouk said.

The facility will house critical and sensitive operational infrastructure, making quality, safety, and durability paramount. NAMA has charged the project contractor, NHD Interbiz Projects Limited, to ensure strict adherence to structural integrity, engineering excellence, and globally accepted construction standards.

The NAMA boss expressed appreciation to the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), for facilitating the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approval that made the project possible. He also commended the agency's management and staff for their dedication and professionalism throughout the contracting process.

The Director of Legal Services and Company Secretary, Mrs. Rita Egbadon, described the signing as a landmark achievement in the agency's history, bringing closure to an era in which NAMA operated from facilities that did not fully reflect the scale, sensitivity, and national importance of its mandate.
