Ibom Air Hosts Stellar Concert to Mark International Civil Aviation Day - By Daisy BARRO

In a resounding celebration of International Civil Aviation Day, Ibom Air took center stage in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, with a high-energy musical extravaganza. The event, held on December 7, 2025, coincided with the airline's allocated day at the 32-day Christmas Unplug Festival - a state-sponsored initiative showcasing local achievements and fostering community engagement.

In his address, Acting Managing Director and CEO of Ibom Air, Mr. George Uriesi, expressed profound gratitude to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, for designating a day to honor the airline; underscoring the carrier's commitment to regional development and social responsibility. "The role of civil aviation in fostering regional connectivity and economic growth cannot be overstated," Mr. Uriesi emphasized, highlighting Ibom Air's pivotal contribution to the state's emerging aviation hub status.

The concert, headlined by award-winning artist Patoranking, brought together a diverse audience, including stakeholders, partners, and music enthusiasts. In a show of support for innovation, Ibom Air presented cash awards to top innovators from the recently concluded Uyo Tech Week - an initiative the airline proudly sponsors.

Akwa Ibom State's vision to establish itself as an aviation hub is anchored on three strategic pillars: the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility, the airport, and Ibom Air. The airline's celebration of International Civil Aviation Day reinforces this vision, promoting awareness of the industry's significance in driving social and economic progress.

As the festivities concluded, Mr. Uriesi assured attendees that Ibom Air is poised to elevate its contributions to the community in 2026, solidifying its position as a key player in Nigeria's aviation sector.
