Arik Unveils Newly Acquired CRJ 1000 To Celebrate 7th Anniversary



Arik's Brand New CRJ1000 Shortly After Being Unveiled
As the carrier continues to celebrate its 7th Anniversary of successful, safe and seamless operations around Nigeria and its regional and international network, Arik Air recently unveiled its newly acquired CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft. The acquisition once again makes Arik Air the launch customer for the CRJ1000 in Africa as it was also for the CRJ900 when the airline first commenced services seven years ago with the purchase then of three of the older variant of the aircraft.
Going by its sleek design and state-of-the-art technology, the CRJ1000 can aptly be described as the "Game Changer" in the short to medium haul market segment. According to a statement by the aircraft manufacturer, Bombardier, "The CRJ NextGen family of aircraft (with the 1000 as the latest) is the benchmark for regional jet efficiency in the 60-99 seat segment, offering lowest operating costs, reduced environmental impact and enhanced cabin interiors." Put succinctly by Bombardier, the "CRJ NextGen aircraft promises more and delivers more."
During the reception to mark the celebrations of the oficial unveiling of the aircraft, the Group CEO, Arik Air, Dr. Michael Arumemi-Ikhide said: "Seven years ago we began this journey upon inception of 3 Bombardier high performance CRJ900 regional aircraft. These aircraft - brand new at the time -  were the first commercial jets to be brouhgt into Nigerian airspace for over 20 years. We were, in fact, the African continent's very fiorst operator of Bombardier's state-of-the-art CRJ9000."
He added that: "As we mark our 7 years of uninterrupted service, we also look forward to the next chapter of our History in revolutionizing air travel and we do so by proudly unveiling the newest member of Arik's modern fleet - Bombardier's next generation CRJ1000 regional jet."
Elated by the development, Dr. Arumemi-Ikhide further stressed: "This transaction, and other joint-venture collaborations such as investment in maintenance support facilities, demonstrates Bombardier's depth of confidence in both Arik Air and Nigeria's burgeoning aviation sector."

Arik Air: We Are Resuming Flights to Maiduguri - By Daisy BARRO

  The Management of Arik Air recently revealed that the airline is set to recommence flights from the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja to Maiduguri, effective Monday May 10, 2021. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Arik Air, Captain Roy Illegbodu expressed his delight with the present state of affairs: “We are delighted to introduce our services to Maiduguri, following popular demand by our customers for Arik’s presence in the city.” He went ahead to assure members of the flying public that Arik is committed to their safety, and will ensure their comfort and security as they patronize the airline. For the time being, Arik will operate four weekly flights from Abuja to the Borno State capital – flights which are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
