The Nigerian aviation sector has taken a step forward in its pursuit of modernisation and competitiveness, with Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo leading a high-powered delegation to the Airline Economics Growth Frontiers Conference in Dublin, Republic of Ireland.

The conference, which brought together global aviation stakeholders; delegates from Nigeria - including the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Capt. Chris Ona Najomo and prominent airline chief executives - provided a platform for Nigeria to engage international partners on access to modern aircraft, improved airline balance sheets, and sustainable growth.

In a meeting with Aercap, the world's largest aircraft leasing company, the Minister's delegation explored innovative leasing solutions and flexible financing structures to support Nigerian airlines' access to modern, fuel-efficient aircraft. Sources say discussions focused on building a long-term strategic partnership aligned with Nigeria's fleet modernisation objectives and the urgent need to strengthen operational capacity among Nigerian airline operators. 

The delegation equally held discussions with Afreximbank, reinforcing Nigeria's intent to deepen aviation finance partnerships and leverage the bank's catalytic role in supporting African carriers.

According to a statement by the ministry, "The meeting underscored a shared commitment to a collaborative government–industry approach that places aviation at the centre of economic growth, regional integration, and intra-African trade."

The Nigerian contingent's participation in the conference has further reinforced the country's growing influence and credibility within the global aviation financing community.
