Adetona Rests In The Lord.

Late Mrs. Olajumoke Adetona
Mrs. Olajumoke Keziah Adetona (Nee Adegun), the Acting General Manager of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), recently departed this world to the life beyond on July 13, 2017 following a brief illness.

The warm spirited and amiable image maker of NAMA had a welcoming disposition that endeared her to anyone who had an encounter with her at one time or the other. Her brilliant smile, tenderness and comforting words always left those around her reassured that behind every challenge in life there is a silver lining and hope for a better tomorrow.

And talking about tomorrow, the sudden demise of “Aunty Me Olajumoke,” as she is fondly called by myself and several others, is reminiscent of the lyrics in the song by Jim Reeves, whereby in her departure from this world, Mrs. Olajumoke Adetona appears to leave a message for those she left behind by seemingly reechoing the words:

This world is not my home
I’m just a-passing through
My treasures are laid up
Somewhere beyond the blue.

The angels beckon me
From heaven’s open door
And I can’t feel at home
In this world anymore.

Born on September 29, 1968 in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, Mrs. Adetona attended St Paul’s Primary School, Jos and Fatima Private School Jos between 1972 and 1979. Thereafter, she proceeded to Baptist High School, Jos where she obtained her West African School Certificate in 1986. Full of ambition, Mrs. Adetona would later attend the University of Jos between 1987 and 1991 where she bagged a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language.

Following her call to National Youth Service at the Katsina State Broadcasting Corporation between 1991 and 1992, she moved over to Lagos where she was employed as a Public Relations Officer II with the then Federal Civil Aviation Authority (FCAA) in  1993.

She got married to Mr. Benson Adetona in 1994 and they are blessed with a wonderful daughter who was christened with a prophetic name which in the Yoruba parlance is called “Jesubori;” meaning: “The Lord has conquered.” And truly, Mrs. Adetona has conquered as she joins the Saints gone before and can now say:

O death, where is thy sting?
O grave, where is thy victory?

With the creation of NAMA in year 2000, Adetona was deployed to the agency as Public Affairs Officer II. She rose through the ranks and by hard work and dedication to duty, she was later appointed as Acting General Manager, Public Affairs in 2015; a position she held until her untimely demise.

Adetona is an innovative, dynamic and selfless leader who brought her wealth of experience to bear on the job. She is an active member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and she always ensured that staff under her supervision remained committed to the cause of the organization.

The late Mrs. Olajumoke Keziah Adetona was a devout Christian, silent listener, philanthropist and mother to all. She will be greatly missed by the aviation community and NAMA in particular.
