Victor Attah Airport: Ibom Air Begins Passenger Processing at Upgraded Terminal - By Daisy BARRO

Ibom Air commenced domestic flight handling from the newly inaugurated International Terminal at Victor Attah International Airport on Sunday, June 14, 2026, relocating all passenger processing, check-in, and boarding functions to the modernized facility. The operational shift to the upgraded infrastructure represents a key phase in the carrier’s expansion strategy and reinforces its focus on optimizing service delivery and terminal throughput.

The state-of-the-art complex provides increased passenger handling capacity, refined check-in and boarding workflows, upgraded security systems, and elevated comfort standards for travelers. According to the airline, the transition is engineered to streamline ground operations, reduce congestion, and improve on-time performance metrics across its domestic network while supporting broader regional connectivity objectives for Akwa Ibom State.

The Chief Executive Officer of Ibom Air, Mr. George Uriesi, addressed the development: “Today marks another defining moment in the evolution of Ibom Air and the aviation sector in Akwa Ibom State. The commencement of our domestic operations from the new International Terminal reflects our unwavering commitment to providing our passengers with a seamless, safe, and world-class travel experience. This facility not only elevates the standard of air travel for our customers but also positions Akwa Ibom as a strategic aviation hub for business, tourism, and regional connectivity”, he said.

Management noted that the relocation aligns with the airline’s long-term vision to enhance customer experience and contribute to the state’s economic development agenda. Passengers have been urged to factor the new facility into pre-departure planning and arrive ahead of scheduled departure times to navigate the terminal and ensure efficient processing.

Ibom Air further acknowledged stakeholders critical to the project’s execution. The airline conveyed appreciation to His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State, the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Aviation and Airport Development, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), its service partners, and its loyal customers whose support has been instrumental in achieving this milestone.

Victor Attah International Airport functions as Ibom Air’s operational hub. The integration of domestic services into the international terminal consolidates the carrier’s Uyo base and is expected to facilitate improved apron coordination, baggage system utilization, and terminal resource allocation as traffic volumes grow.
