No Mandate to Revive Botched Nigeria Air Deal, Says Kana Abubakar - By Daisy BARRO.

Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, mni, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has issued a press statement to clarify his previous remarks regarding the revival of Nigeria's National Carrier Project. The statement comes after Kana's inaugural speech on Monday sparked widespread interest and inquiries about the potential revival of the project.

Kana emphasized that he never stated that there was a mandate to revive the botched Nigeria Air deal with Ethiopian Airlines. Instead, he was referring to the administration's general vision to consider a National Carrier Project if it is favorable to the country and aligns with the guidance and directives of the President and the Honourable Minister of Aviation.

The Permanent Secretary also reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the Honourable Minister to drive the Ministry's agenda forward. He expressed his dedication to ensuring that the future of aviation in Nigeria is bright, innovative, and reflective of the nation's aspirations.

The recent statement, he said, aims to clarify any ambiguities surrounding his previous remarks and to provide assurance about the Ministry's commitment to the National Carrier Project based on the unique needs of the country and the industry.

The reactions that trailed the Permanent Secretary's earlier comments express sentiments linked to the controversies surrounding the Nigeria Air saga, which remains a sensitive topic among stakeholders in the sector in which Dr. Kana now plays a crucial role.
