NCAA Marks 25th Anniversary; Reaffirms Commitment to Air Safety - By Daisy BARRO

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of the Nigerian airspace, thanks to its enhanced safety surveillance measures. Acting Director General, Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, made this assurance during the staff's annual New Year prayers at the Authority's corporate headquarters in Abuja. This event, held every January 2nd, marked the beginning of the NCAA's 25th-anniversary celebrations.

Capt. Najomo attributed the improved safety measures to the federal government's Renewed Hope agenda and the minister's five-point agenda, which have enabled the Authority to perform more effectively. He emphasized that the NCAA will continue to prioritize airline compliance and cited the recent sanctions imposed on five airlines that had not paid refund tickets; adding that these have since agreed to comply and the Authority expects to see significant improvements in 2025.

Despite facing criticism, Capt. Najomo said he remains focused on carrying out his official duties and meeting performance targets. He assured staff that his management is committed to providing an improved working environment, including full digitalization, a flight data center, and various digital portals to facilitate seamless business operations:

"We plan to be fully digitalized. We have the flight data center, the CPD portal and the DATR portal to make doing business seamless and thus easier", he said, adding that these are among other digital solutions the Authority has deployed to facilitate the ease of doing business.

The event's highlights included the unveiling of the NCAA @25 flag and the anniversary monument symbolizing the Authority's dedication to its mission and vision.
