Three of the top winners of the 4th National Travel Essay Competition (NTEC 2012/13) recently paid a courtesy visit to the General Manager of EgyptAir, Mr. Khaled El Rafie, at the airline’s corporate office in Victoria Island, Lagos. They include Miss Peace Adeola, 1st prize winner of a Free Ticket to Dubai sponsored by EgyptAir; Miss Ummi Abdulmalik, in 2nd place and Thelma Iheme, the third place winner, who both got Special Discount Tickets to any destination on the airline’s network.

Mr. Khaled El Rafie noted that he was particularly impressed to see that all three winners were female students from the same school and expressed delight in the record breaking feat. He however, urged them not to relent in their pursuit for academic excellence and congratulated them for a job well done.

“EgyptAir believes in supporting the youths because we realize they are the future of any nation. We have therefore supported the annual travel writing contest since it was established in 2009 in conjunction with Travel & Business News, our partners, and we are proud to say we will continue to do our best to support the next generation of aviation professionals in Nigeria in our own modest way,” Mr. El Rafie remarked.

Speaking on behalf of the winners, Miss Peace Adeola thanked the General Manager for welcoming and receiving them at his office and expressed gratitude to the airline for the support and opportunities offered to her and her colleagues. “I look forward to experiencing your onboard hospitality when I embark on my trip to Dubai,” she concluded.

Initiator and Coordinator of the National Travel Essay Competition, Mr. Ewos Iroro also thanked the General Manager and staff of the airline for the cooperation they have shown over the years for the youth project and further solicited their continued support for the initiative which is aimed at raising future aviation professionals in the face of skilled manpower shortage and ageing workforce in the sector in Nigeria.
