Air Peace Fleet Hits 18 Embraers With Latest E190 Arrival In Lagos - By Daisy BARRO

Air Peace has inducted an additional Embraer 190, increasing its Embraer fleet to 18 aircraft and advancing its ongoing fleet expansion and renewal programme.

The 96-seat aircraft touched down at Murtala Muhammed International Airport Terminal 2, Lagos, at approximately 17:00 local time on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, under the command of Capt. Mrs. Ibironke Rotimi-Olajide. The delivery represents the eighth (8th) airframe received by the carrier in 2026.

With this induction, the airline's Embraer portfolio now comprises 18 units, including the E195-E2, for which Air Peace is the African launch customer. The expanding Embraer fleet complements the carrier's Boeing assets deployed across its domestic, regional and long-haul network. The airline disclosed it has also added five Boeing 737-800 aircraft this year.

The newly delivered Embraer 190 is configured with 12 Business Class and 84 Economy Class seats. The type offers a 1-2 Business Class layout for enhanced personal space and a 2-2 Economy Class configuration with no middle seat, alongside increased legroom and in-seat power outlets.

The aircraft has been named after Mrs. Eka Sunmonu, wife of Mr. Mutiu Sunmonu, former Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC). According to the carrier, this is the first time an Air Peace aircraft has been named outside the Onyema family.

Commenting on the acquisition, Air Peace Spokesperson, Mr. Osifo-Whiskey Efe, described the latest addition as another demonstration of the airline's deliberate investment in fleet growth and network development:

“The arrival of another Embraer 190 is an important milestone in our strategic fleet expansion programme. We are deliberately building a diverse and versatile fleet that gives us the operational flexibility required to strengthen our network, improve schedule resilience and provide greater connectivity across the markets we serve."

“With 18 Embraer aircraft now in our fleet, alongside our growing Boeing portfolio, we are building capacity for the long term. Every fleet decision is tied to our broader expansion strategy and our commitment to deploying the right aircraft across our domestic, regional and international network,” he stated.

The latest induction forms part of the carrier's strategy to build a modern, diversified and operationally balanced fleet to support current and projected network requirements, deepen domestic and intra-African connectivity and sustain its intercontinental operations through targeted investment in airframes, network development and operational capacity.
