Emirates Offers Huge Multi-Risk Travel Insurance Worth $500,000 - By Daisy BARRO

Emirates recently rolled out a pioneer industry initiative which consists of providing its passengers with expanded multi-risk travel insurance at no supplementary cost; this being in addition to its current COVID-19 cover.

This supplementary coverage is provided by AIG Travel, and will automatically come with every Emirates ticket purchased from December 1, 2020. It also applies to code share flights operated by partner airlines, provided the ticket number begins with ‘176’.

According to the Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates, HH Sheikh Ahmeed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, “Emirates was the first airline to offer complimentary global COVID-19 cover for travelers back in July, and the response from our customers has been tremendously encouraging. We’ve not rested on our laurels and instead continued to look at how we can offer our customers an even better proposition. We’re very pleased to be able to now provide this new multi-risk travel insurance and COVID-19 cover, which is another industry first, to all our customers.”

He also said that such a move is meant to give customers additional confidence in the airline, as they get ready to travel during this holiday season.

Expressing his excitement about this venture, the CEO for AIG Travel, Jeff Rutledge said, “We have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Emirates and we are excited to work with them to tailor this product to meet the needs of Emirates customers worldwide.”

It is worthy of note that Dubai was one of the world’s first cities to be given the Safe Travel Stamp by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), which endorsed the city’s all-inclusive and effective measures to ensure guest health and safety.
