Carnival Calabar Warms Up With Kings & Queens Contest
Posted By Ewos IRORO The 2013 Carnival Celebrations of the annual Month-long Calabar Festival got off to an exhilarating start with music and dance. The U. J Esuene Stadium, venue of the event, lit up as the Ballet Dancers from Rwanda took to the stage and dazzled the crowd with various traditional music and dance coupled by a carefully choreographed display of synchronized drumming. Governor Liyel Imoke & Wife Arriving the venue This was quickly followed by the opening of the night’s star attraction featuring the contest between the Carnival Kings and Queens of the various bands participating at this year’s event. The contest was in two categories comprising of the Junior and Senior Kings and Queens. Five bands performed on the night including Bayside Band; Freedom Band; Passion Band; Seagull Band and Master Blaster Band.
